Recticel Eurothane® GP PIR insulation board is a lightweight, high-performance rigid foam board for pitched roofs, framed and internal walls, floors and ceilings. Each 2400 x 1200mm board is faced on both sides with a gas diffusion-tight multilayer foil and delivers a thermal conductivity of just 0.022 W/mK, so you can hit strict U-value targets with a thinner build-up than mineral wool or EPS. Straight edges allow tight, easy butt joints, and the board is quick to cut, handle and install on site. Rated Euroclass F to EN 13501-1 and BBA certified (25 to 160mm), it's a trusted alternative to Celotex and Kingspan PIR boards. Stocked in 25, 50, 70, 90, 100, 140 and 150mm thicknesses. In stock now for click & collect.

Recticel Eurothane® GP is one of the UK's most widely specified PIR insulation boards. Contractors reach for it because it combines strong thermal performance with a low weight, so boards are quick to carry, cut and fix on site.

The rigid PIR foam core is sandwiched between a gas diffusion-tight multilayer foil facing on both faces. This foil protects the core and can act as part of the vapour control strategy when joints are properly sealed. A printed grid on the surface makes on-site cutting more accurate, and the straight-edge profile allows boards to be tightly butted together to reduce thermal bridging at the joints.

Applications

Eurothane® GP is manufactured for thermal insulation of pitched roofs, framed walls and floors, including compatibility with underfloor heating systems. Recticel's own range documentation also lists it for internal wall, ceiling and loft insulation, so it's a genuinely multi-application board across most parts of a building.

Sizes and specification

Every board measures 2400mm x 1200mm, giving 2.88m² of coverage per sheet. We stock this board in 25mm, 50mm, 70mm, 90mm, 100mm, 140mm and 150mm thicknesses, covering everything from slim retrofit upgrades to thick single-layer new-build specifications. As with all foil-faced PIR boards, there's no colour choice, the finish is a consistent foil facing with a grid pattern on both sides.

Performance and safety

  • Thermal conductivity: 0.022 W/mK (declared value, all thicknesses), to EN 13165
  • Compressive strength: ≥120 kPa (CS(10/Y)120), to EN 826
  • Fire behaviour: Euroclass F, to EN 13501-1
  • Density: approximately 30 kg/m³
  • Manufactured to EN 13165:2012 + A2:2016. BBA certified (Certificate 24/7254, covering 25 to 160mm). 100% PEFC certified. VOC rated A+

Handling and storage

Boards are not suitable for outside storage in their supplied packaging. Keep them dry, stored clear of the ground, and covered with a weatherproof sheet, protected from direct sunlight. Any board that has been allowed to get wet should not be used. Cut with a fine-tooth saw or a sharp insulation knife, scoring and snapping where possible to keep dust down.

FAQ

Is Recticel PIR insulation the same as Celotex or Kingspan?
Not the same product, but a directly comparable one. All three are foil-faced rigid PIR boards with a declared thermal conductivity around 0.022 W/mK, so they perform very similarly in a roof, wall or floor build-up. Check the specific fire classification and certification of whichever board is named on your project specification before substituting one for another, since ratings and test standards vary by manufacturer.

What thickness of PIR insulation board do I need?
It depends on the application and the U-value you're required to hit, not a single fixed number. We stock this board from 25mm up to 150mm. A pitched roof retrofit might use 25 to 50mm between existing structure, while a new-build floor aiming for current Building Regulations standards often needs 100mm or more. Your architect, building control body, or a U-value calculation will confirm the figure for your specific project.

Can PIR insulation board get wet, and is it suitable for underfloor heating?
The closed-cell PIR core is manufactured for floor applications, including compatibility with underfloor heating systems. However, the board itself is not waterproof, and boards that have been allowed to get wet should not be used. Store flat, dry, off the ground and out of direct sunlight until installation.

This is general product guidance, not project-specific building control advice. For your exact U-value and thickness requirement, check with your architect, building control officer, or a Recticel technical advisor.
