I want to know how much in is a bulk bag and how much will it cover.

There is still a common misconception that the bulk bag supplied by builders merchants are ton bags and several people still refer to a ton bag when meaning a bulk bag.

We work to the industry standard as agreed between the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF) and Trading Standards Business Compliance Unit. Under this agreement the sale of Bulk Bagged Aggregates should not be sold by weight but as a Bulk Bag.

This Bulk Bag should be filled to contain a minimum of 800Kg allowing for a +/-5% difference. The weight of the product within the bag will also vary depending on the moisture content of the product (i.e. wet sand weight more than dry sand). The volume of the product within the bag will also vary depending on the weight of the aggregate within the bag.

Bulk Bag Coverage

Coverage achieved will vary depending upon the type of product within the bulk bag, however we would advise that for most small aggregate a bulk bag will give a coverage of around ten square meters. This is based upon a coverage depth of 2-3cm of aggregate.

If you are looking for weed suppression in an area then we would recommend that you use a weed suppression fabric under the decorative aggregate with an aggregate depth of around 5-6cm. This will then suppress the light levels getting to the weed seeds and reduce weed germination in the soil. Weed seeds that land onto the aggregate and germinate can be easily removed from the aggregate by hand.

Web Pricing Policy

Our web site offers products across the UK, these products are priced to be competitive across the UK market place as a whole.  As with some other online businesses the ecommerce part of our business operates with a lower cost base than that of our branch network and we are therefore occasionally able to offer products at a lower price online than that offered in our branch network.

Our company policy is that you are offered a price by our company for the product(s) you wish to order this may include a delivery charge, that price is stated to you at the time of purchase, if you agree this price at that time then we deem this to be the contract price for the goods purchased. Should you then find the goods available by us at a cheaper price then we will not refund any difference as the deal was agreed at the time of purchase.

Delivery Areas

Our trucks are loaded so that maximise the use of the load space available and reduce the delivery miles our vehicles drive. This means the vehicles are loaded based on the loads to be delivered within an area and not necessarily by distance from our depot.
