Technical Details

Installation and Important Information

• Marshalls recommends laying porcelain paving on a full mortar bed (30-40mm) and never on a five spot bed.
• Apply Marshalls Paving Primer to the back of each slab before laying to help the slab bond to the mortar.
• Fill the 3-5mm joints with Marshalls Symphony Jointing Material or Marshalls Exterior Jointing Grout. Jointing material is not included.
• For most domestic projects, a 100mm sub-base of well-graded Type 1 aggregate should be sufficient, but the design must suit your ground conditions.
• Cut with water-fed equipment and a diamond blade suitable for porcelain, and never use a fibre blade.
• Consider movement joints at 6m centres for large open areas, long periods of direct sunlight or darker colours.
• Inspect the paving on delivery and mix slabs from different packs to blend colour. Some variation between batches is normal.
• Do not lay paving when the temperature is below 5°C on a falling thermometer.
