FAQ

What is a newel post?

A newel post is a vertical post that supports a handrail or balustrade, providing structural stability and decorative style for decks, stairs, or garden railings.

How are newel posts attached?

Newel posts are fixed using screws or bolts into decking joists or stair stringers. Ensure the post sits on a stable, level base and secure it with corrosion-resistant fixings.

How do I change a newel post?

Remove any attached handrails or spindles, unscrew the old post from its base, and install the new post in the same location, sealing cut ends and refixing spindles and handrails.
