Global Landscaping Artisan Mirage Sandstone Paving

The Mirage Castle Grey paving range by Global Stone (available via Global-Landscaping) is a premium natural stone selection known for its sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic.Part of the Artisan Collection, this range is a favorite among garden designers for its sleek finish and unique visual properties.

Key Features

• Finish: Honed smooth surface with straight-cut (sawn) edges for a polished, architectural look.

• Material: Premium natural sandstone, offering durability and natural color variation.

• Versatility: Suitable for both exterior patios and interior flooring to create a seamless living space.

• Texture: Lightly textured for reliable slip resistance (R11 equivalent) while remaining smooth to the touch.

• Durability: Weather-resistant and robust enough for high-traffic garden areas.

Castle Grey is a high-quality sandstone characterized by its cool, muted silver-grey tones.Unlike traditional riven sandstone, the Mirage range features a honed, smooth surface and precision straight-cut edges, giving it a clean, minimalist appearance that suits modern landscaping projects and indoor-outdoor transitions.

The "Mirage" Effect

One of the standout features of this range is its reaction to moisture. When wet, the stone darkens significantly and develops a subtle shimmering effect. This "mirage-like" transformation adds a dynamic, high-end feel to patios and walkways during rain or after cleaning.

Installation & Care

• Laying: It is highly recommended to lay these slabs on a full bed of mortar. Avoid "spot bedding" (the "dot and dab" method) to prevent staining and ensure structural integrity.

• Sealing: While not strictly required, sealing the stone can help protect against organic growth and staining, preserving the bright grey tones over time.

• Jointing: A joint width of 5–10mm is recommended to accommodate the nominal size tolerances of natural stone.

Pro Tip: To create a striking contrast in texture, many designers pair the smooth Mirage Castle Grey paving with Artisan Serenity Setts as a border or focal point.
