Postcrete is a fast-setting concrete mix designed for securing posts, such as fence posts, gate posts, or decking supports, into the ground. It is a convenient and efficient solution for projects where quick installation is necessary.

Features of Postcrete:

  1. Fast Setting: Sets in 5-10 minutes, making it ideal for quick installations.
  2. Ready-to-Use: Comes pre-mixed; no additional sand, gravel, or cement is required.
  3. Convenient Packaging: Typically available in bags that can be directly poured into the hole.
  4. Strong and Durable: Once set, it forms a solid base for stability.

How to Use Postcrete:

  1. Dig the Hole: Ensure the hole is deep and wide enough for the post and the concrete.
  2. Position the Post: Place the post in the hole and ensure it's level.
  3. Pour the Postcrete: Empty the Postcrete into the hole around the post.
  4. Add Water: Pour clean water over the Postcrete as per the instructions on the bag (usually 2-3 liters per bag).
  5. Adjust Quickly: As it sets rapidly, ensure the post is properly aligned before the Postcrete hardens.
  6. Allow to Set: Let the concrete cure for at least a few hours before applying stress.

FAQ

How much Postcrete do I need for my project?

The amount of postcrete required depends on the size and number of posts you're setting. As a general guide, one 20kg bag of postcrete will set a standard fence post in a hole approximately 600mm deep and 300mm wide. For bigger posts or deeper holes, you may need additional bags.

How long does Postcrete take to set?

Postcrete is designed to set quickly. It typically begins to set within 5-10 minutes and is fully set within 20-30 minutes, depending on weather conditions (temperature and moisture).

Can I use Postcrete in cold weather?

Postcrete can be used in colder temperatures, but setting time will increase. It's recommended not to start a job where the temperature may drop to freezing within 24 hours.
