A double socket bend is a type of drainage fitting used in underground pipework to change the direction of flow. The 15° refers to the angle of the bend — a relatively gentle change in direction. These fittings have sockets on both ends so plain‑ended pipes can be inserted into each side for a secure connection.

Description & Function

  • Purpose: Redirects drainage pipe runs with a slight change of direction (15°), useful where larger angle bends (e.g., 30° or 45°) aren’t needed.

  • Design: Both ends have sockets that accept pipes; this “double socket” design makes it easy to connect two pipe lengths without extra couplers.
  • Installation: Typically push‑fit with rubber seals (or lip & compression seals) to create a watertight joint that resists dislodgement.
  • Material: Usually uPVC or high‑density polyethylene (HDPE), robust for underground drainage environments.
  • Use Cases: Common in surface water and foul drainage systems to guide flow gradually around slight changes in alignment
