I want to cover an area with decorative gravel, how do I go about this?
Before putting down decorative gravel you should ensure that your ground is level. You should then lay a base of plastic sheeting to stop weeds growing through. Ensure you buy adequate gravel to cover the area and leave no unsightly gaps in you graveled area.
What is the difference between concrete (sharp) sand and building sand?
Concete sand is coarse and gritty and is used for laying slabs etc. Building sand is smooth in texture and is used mainly by the building trade for example with blocks to build a wall.
I want to slab an area of my garden, how much extra should I allow for breakages and for cutting purposes?
We recommend that you purchase an additional 5% of the slabs of your choice for breakages and cutting purposes. This can however vary depending on the complexity of the pattern of slabs that are being laid.
